IEEE Draft Recommended Practice for Quality Assessment of Wheeled Robots for Substation Inspection

Summary

New IEEE Standard - Active - Draft.
This recommended practice describes a wheeled robot designed for substation inspection and live detection operations. It specifies the system architecture, application scenarios, functional and performance requirements, inspection and detection procedures, calibration and acceptance standards, as well as maintenance and servicing requirements. This method is applicable to wheeled robots used in inspection and live detection operations in both AC and DC substations.

This recommended practice provides structure and appearance, mechanical performance, operational performance, and an inspection system during type test, factory test, acceptance test, and operation and maintenance for wheeled robots. This recommended practice is applicable to the quality assessment of substation wheeled inspection robots defined at IEEE 3328.
This recommended practice aims to provide assessment methods for wheeled inspection robots to inspection laboratories, test verification institutions, and manufacturers across various inspection scenarios, including type inspection, factory inspection, acceptance inspection and operation and maintenance. It helps maintain wheeled inspection robots in optimal performance conditions, extend their service life, and promote the safe application of substation inspection robots in different countries.
