IEEE Draft Standard for End-edge-cloud Collaboration of Digital Retina Systems
Summary
New IEEE Standard - Active - Draft.
The aspects of logical structure, collaborative framework, and functional requirements for the collaborative work of end, edge, and cloud subsystems in the digital retina system (DRS), as well as the processing model and interfaces concerning task collaboration, are specified in this standard. Implementable technical specifications for collaboratively processing and understanding the visual information across the end-edge-cloud platform by leveraging multiple data streams, including video, feature, and model, to enable real-time gathering of valuable information and collaborative data analysis are provided by this standard.
This standard defines a framework and functional requirements of the coordinative work of end, edge, and cloud subsystems of digital retina systems (DRS) as defined in IEEE 3161 standard. This standard also specifies functional models, general requirements and interfaces concerning task collaboration within DRS.
This standard provides technical specifications for the characteristics of end-edge-cloud collaboration in DRS. Specially, the collaboration includes coordination of computation, data, algorithm, network, devices, etc. The purpose of this standard is to guide the design, development, and implementation of relevant modules that support the coordinative work of end, edge, and cloud subsystems. It facilitates the effective utilization of system resources, improve system efficiency and extend system capabilities. The standard is applicable to joint training or inference, multi-source data integration, and collaborative optimization in smart transportation, public safety, and smart city.
