This standard specifies consumer's data security requirements in the blockchain-based metaverse, including data transmission, data storage, data migration, data sharing, data backup and recovery, and data destruction. Thereby, the standard helps to protect the integrity and authenticity of transactions as well as consumers’ personal privacy information, such as identity information, and payment passwords. Furthermore, encryption technology specified in this standard can enable that consumer data is not illegally obtained or tampered with during transmission and storage.
The main purpose of this standard is to help ensure the data security of consumers and merchants in the virtual world. This standard is needed to provide consumers with a safe and reliable shopping experience. In relying on decentralized blockchains a dependency on any single central organization for data management and storage is avoided. This further enhances data security.
In the metaverse consumer market, transactions between consumers and merchants often involve virtual assets, and digital currencies. Issues such as the authenticity and ownership of these assets are crucial to the transactions. Blockchain technology can achieve transaction transparency and traceability, to help ensure that every transaction is authentic and legal, and to avoid fraud and false transactions.
