IEEE Draft Standard for Specifying and Testing Coriolis Vibratory Gyros
Summary
Revision Standard - Active - Draft.
Specification and test procedures for a single-axis Coriolis vibratory gyro (CVG) for use as a sensor in attitude control systems, angular displacement measuring systems, and angular rate measuring systems are defined. The test procedures are derived from those presently used in the industry. Informative annexes contain CVG design features and theoretical principles of operation.
This standard defines requirements and test procedures for a single-axis Coriolis vibratory gyro (CVG) for use as a sensor in attitude control systems, angular displacement measuring systems, and angular rate measuring systems. Informative annexes cover CVG design features and theoretical principles of operation.
This standard provides a common format for the development of a Coriolis vibratory gyro (CVG) specification that includes best-practice test procedures and used common terminology for manufactures and users. The CVG is a device which measures inertial angular rate through the Coriolis force produced from a vibrating mass in a non-inertial reference frame. This gyro type encompasses low cost Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems (MEMS) devices on silicon or quartz chips and also inertial navigation grade vibrating shell gyros.
