CSA Preface This is the first edition of CSA Z14091, Adaptation to climate change — Guidelines on vulnerability, impacts and risk assessment , which is an adoption, with Canadian deviations, of the identically titled ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Standard 14091 (first edition, 2021-02). For brevity, this Standard will be referred to as "CSA Z14091" throughout. This Standard was reviewed for Canadian adoption by the SCC Mirror Committee to ISO/TC 207, Environmental Management, under the jurisdiction of the CSA Strategic Steering Committee on Organizational Management and Sustainability, and has been formally approved by the Technical Committee. This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group. Scope This document gives guidelines for assessing the risks related to the potential impacts of climate change. It describes how to understand vulnerability and how to develop and implement a sound risk assessment in the context of climate change. It can be used for assessing both present and future climate change risks. Risk assessment according to this document provides a basis for climate change adaptation planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation for any organization, regardless of size, type and nature.
