Preface This is the second edition of CSA C22.2 No. 197, PVC insulating tape . It supersedes the previous edition published in 1983. The following are the major changes to this edition: a) updating the scope of this Standard to clarify the applicable voltage ratings; b) adding reference to CSA C22.2 No. 0; c) updating markings requirements; d) updating various tests in Clause 6to specify the test method in CSA C22.2 No. 2556 instead of CSA C22.2 No. 0.3; e) updating dielectric strength test requirements; and f) adding requirements for dielectric voltage withstand of unaged tape. This Standard is considered suitable for use for conformity assessment within the stated scope of the Standard. This Standard was prepared by the Subcommittee on Insulation Systems, under the jurisdiction of the Technical Committee on Wiring Products and the Strategic Steering Committee on the Requirements for Electrical Safety, and has been formally approved by the Technical Committee. This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group. Scope This Standard applies to polyvinyl chloride (PVC) insulating tape for use at a maximum temperature of 60, 80, 90, or 105 °C, and a voltage of 600 or 1000 V, for insulating joints and splices in wires and cables in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
