What does AFCEN do?
AFCEN is an international non-profit organization. It comprises companies operating in the nuclear sector or, where nuclear-related aspects are involved, in the conventional sector.
AFCEN's mission is to develop, update, and codify technical rules based on real-world practices concerning the design, construction, and operational monitoring of equipment for industrial and experimental nuclear facilities.
In addition to covering a wide range of technical fields, from civil engineering to fire protection, AFCEN's codes are regularly updated and provide a generic overview of nuclear facilities, allowing for broad application rather than project-specific application.
AFCEN's mission
AFCEN has a clear mission: to develop and distribute codes and publications that position themselves as references in the nuclear field.
The Codes published by AFCEN
AFCEN's activities extend beyond drafting its seven codes. In addition to these codes, AFCEN also produces many other technical documents and publications, which the organization monitors and updates.
These documents include studies designed to complement certain areas of the AFCEN codes, others that elaborate on the foundations of the codes' rules, and guides to support and facilitate their use.
