The ASTM and ISO test procedures for the determination of ash in polyamides and thermoplastic polyesters are similar but do require different temperatures for the ash analysis. This round robin conducted per ASTM E 691 was designed to determine the equivalency of results at the two ash temperatures, 900 �,C in ASTM D 5630 and 850 �,C in ISO 3451. In addition the ASTM and ISO standards require ashing the sample to a constant weight which adds additional time to the analysis. Therefore, a secondary objective of this round robin was to evaluate the time required to reach a constant weight.
