Détails
The test method is used to determine the permeability of elastomer components for liquid or vaporous media in contact with them. Two test methods are described.
Method 1: The liquid is exclusively in direct contact with the elastomer.
Method 2: The steam/air mixture is exclusively in direct contact with the elastomer.
The procedure may be used to:
- To carry out suitability tests on various elastomers eligible for such an application (quality determination).
- Carry out comparative investigations on different delivery batches of a certain elastomer quality (quality assurance).
There shall be a period of at least 16 h and a maximum of 6 months between the vulcanisation of the sample and the examination by this method.
Before the test, the specimens must be stored at least 8 h in the unstressed state at (23 + 5) °C.
