Détails

Pumping systems account for a significant portion of a facility’s energy use in many industries. Manufacturing plants, commercial buildings, and municipalities all rely on pumping systems for daily operations. In the manufacturing sector alone, pumps represent 27% of the electricity used by industrial systems. In wastewater plants, electrical usage with pumping systems accountsfor 20 to 30% of consumption, while in municipal water systems, pumping systems account for 46% of electrical usage. As pumping systems across all industrial sectors represent the highest energy use, they also represent the greatest potential to save energy and reduce maintenance-related expenses. In the majority of pumping systems, the energy added to the working fluid by the pump is much greater than the energy required by the process. Many times, facilities run at excess energy levels due to incorrect sizing and configuration of pumping components, such as piping control valves and motors. As a result, excess energy added to the system generates heat, vibration, and noise, which causes increased maintenance and energy costs.
