This recommended practice specifies requirements and guidance for the execution of FJC/infill and documentation of quality control. This self-contained RP also includes guidance and requirements for automatic systems used in the FJC/infill application process.



The following 15 types of FJC/CFR systems, applicable to the corrosion control of submarine pipelines and including associated risers and spools, are covered in this document. The designations used in this RP are the same as in ISO 21809-3 but some amendments have been made by introducing underscore followed by specific information.



— Type 12-2 Cold applied polymeric tape (FJC only).



— Type 14A-2_PE PE heat shrink sleeve without primer (FJC and CFR).



— Type 14A_PP PP heat shrink sleeve without primer (FJC and CFR).



— Type 14B_LE PE heat shrink sleeve with LE primer (FJC and CFR).



— Type 14D_LE PP heat shrink sleeve with LE primer (FJC and CFR).



— Type 16A Polychloroprene coating (FJC and CFR).



— Type 16B EPDM coating (FJC and CFR).



— Type 17A Fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) coating (FJC only).



— Type 14B_FBE PE heat shrink sleeve applied on FBE coating (FJC and CFR).



— Type 14D_FBE PP heat shrink sleeve applied on FBE coating (FJC and CFR).



— Type 19A Flame-sprayed PP applied on FBE coating (FJC only).



— Type 19B Hot-applied PP tapes/sheets applied on FBE coating (FJC only).



— Type 19C Injection moulded PP applied on FBE coating (FJC only).



— Type 19D Flame-sprayed PE applied on FBE coating (FJC only).



— Type 19E Hot-applied PE tapes/sheets applied on FBE coating (FJC only).



This RP also covers the use of PU as infill on pipelines with a coating of concrete:



— Solid PU infill.



— Foam PU infill.



The following activities associated with FJC/CFR are not covered in this RP:



— Requirements for the qualification of manufacturer specific coating materials for general purposes.



— Detailed design of FJC for project specific purposes, e.g. thermal insulation.



— FJC related to thermal insulation.



— Inspection of linepipe coating during installation and characterization of damage for subsequent CFR.



— Repair of internal coating and thermally insulating coating.



— Repair of linepipe coating performed by the linepipe coating applicator at its premises, this is covered in DNV-RP-F106.



Considerations related to safety and environmental hazards associated with either coating work or properties and degradation, such as the leaking of various compounds or of as-applied coating materials reflected in national and international regulations, are beyond the scope of this RP.
