This standard updates the standard to the state of the art. In particular, new categories 8.1 and 8.2 for balanced copper cabling components to support new channel classes I and II as well as the fibre optic component Category OM5 are introduced, the structure across all parts of the series is aligned and various other subclauses, tables and figures are amended. Annex B on servies and applications has been revised completely.
