ANSI/ASNT CP-105 defines the required body of knowledge for training, qualifying, and certifying NDT personnel. This standard applies to personnel whose tasks or jobs require knowledge of the technical principles underlying the NDT methods for which they have responsibility. These tasks include performing, specifying, reviewing, monitoring, supervising, and evaluating NDT work.
-Specific updates in the 2024 edition of CP-105 include:
-Integration of machine learning into acoustic emission.
-Clarification of the terms “radiography” and “radiographic.”
-Updates to computed tomography, computed radiography, as well as limited certification for computed tomography.
-Revisions to vibration analysis courses, including basic and Level II intermediate vibration.
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) does not develop standards directly but accredits organizations (like ASNT) to create standards under its guidelines. American National Standard Approval of an American National Standard requires verification by ANSI that the requirements for due process, consensus, and other criteria for approval have been met by the standards developer.
