This specification covers the material requirements for plain and laminated elastomeric bridge bearings. Elastomeric bearings furnished under this specification shall adequately provide for thermal expansion and contraction, rotation, camber changes, and creep and shrinkage, where applicable, of structural members. Elastomeric bearings as herein defined shall include plain pads (consisting of elastomer only) and laminated bearings with steel or fabric laminates.The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The inch-pound units are shown in parentheses. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents, therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the standard.
