Details
This compendium in this WRC Bulletin was created based on the optical metallographic and "Cryo-Cracking" fractographic characterization conducted in conjunction with assessments on in-service, long-seam welded, Cr-Mo, high energy piping. The extent of creep damage (cavitation) is presented in the order of increasing creep damage level according to the specific location of creep damage. In this compendium, the primary locations of creep damage are defined as creep damage in the weld metal adjacent to the fusion line (WM-FL) and creep damage in the fine-grained/intercritical heat affected zones of the base metal (BM-FG/ICHAZ) and weld metal (WM-FG/ICHAZ), traditionally called "Type IV damage.".
