IEC

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is the world’s leading organization that prepares and publishes International Standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies, known collectively as “electrotechnology”.

Recognized by the World Trade Organization (WTO), IEC Standards cover a very large range of technologies from power generation, transmission and distribution, medical equipment, semiconductors, fiber optics, nanotechnology to renewable energies.

The IEC activities embrace all electrotechnology on land, at sea and in the air, as well as associated disciplines such as terminology, electromagnetic compatibility, performance, safety and the environment, including work on increasing electrical energy efficiency. The IEC standards contribute to support experience and know-how in the fields of safety, reliability and dependability, the environment, electrical energy efficiency and renewable energy.
