This DIN SPEC in accordance with the PAS procedure was developed within a workshop set up on a temporary basis. The DIN SPEC was developed and approved by the authors named in the foreword. This DIN SPEC contains guidance and recommendations relating to the design of the user interface of touch-free gesture control in human-system interaction. This DIN SPEC contains guidance and recommendations relating to the design of the user interface of contactless gesture control in human-system interaction. The document comprises principal terms, a depiction of the contactless gesture control process and the description, characterization and illustration of human gestures. The document also defines basic rules for devising gestures that suit their purpose. It also shows examples of contactless gestures. The DIN SPEC does not contain a full catalogue of gestures, nor does it list every application, as these will depend on the respective sector and application. This DIN SPEC is aimed at those involved in the development, purchasing and testing of gesture control systems as well as their end users. This DIN SPEC should be used in conjunction with E DIN EN ISO 9241-960 und ISO/IEC 30113-1, and deals only with those aspects of the user interface of human-system interaction that are specific to contactless gesture control.
