Details
This standard specifies design principles for the equipment for separating and thickening of solids in regard to such buildings for which order or function of the technical equipment has to be taken into account and for technical equipment, as far as requirements on planning, construction and operation have to be considered. This Standard does not state general principles of building construction, mechanical and electrical engineering, safety or wastewater treatment processes. This Standard does not cover grit separators and grit treatment installations, for which DIN 19569-2:2002-12 still applies. This Standard does not cover microstrainers with a mesh site below 0,05 mm, which can be used for separating solids from treated wastewater (as polishing filtration). This Standard can also be used for equipment for the separation of solids in drain and sewer systems. This Standard refers to the general construction principles of DIN EN 12255-1 as well as to the specific technical standards for individual equipment in wastewater treatment plants, especially DIN EN 12255-3 (preliminary treatment), but also DIN EN 12255-4 (primary settlement), DIN 12255-6 (activated sludge process), DIN 19551-1 (rectangular tanks - settlement tanks) and DIN 19552 (circular tanks - settlement tanks and thickeners). The general and specific construction principles in this Standard also apply to equipment for which there are no specific technical standards.
