Preface: This is the first edition of CSA A123.26, Performance requirements for climate resilience of low slope membrane roofing systems. This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group. Scope: 1.1 This Standard outlines requirements for low slope membrane roofing systems (LSMRS) when identified as "silver" and "gold" performance level based on the climate severity and resilience requirements. Note: The National Building Code of Canada and the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings provides "bronze" requirements for LSMRS. 1.2 This Standard is intended to be used by building designers, building owners, building code officials, product manufacturers, and installers. 1.3 The requirements provided in this Standard do not include, nor are they intended to override other requirements, by the governing building code or the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ). 1.4 This Standard does not address the climatic adaptation requirements for the structural support (deck) below the LSMRS. 1.5 This Standard does not purport to address all the health and safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this Standard has the responsibility to consult with the appropriate authorities and to establish health and safety practices, in conjunction with any existing applicable regulatory requirements, prior to its use. 1.6 In this Standard, "shall" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard, "should" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required, and "may" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the Standard. Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements, the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material. Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements. Annexes are designated normative (mandatory) or informative (non-mandatory) to define their application. 1.7 The values given in SI units are the units of record for the purposes of this Standard. The values given in parentheses are for information and comparison only.
